Commercial drivers each day on our highways are transporting hazardous materials covering all distances from local to international. Carrying these hazardous materials is not only a risk for the driver but for all vehicles sharing the roads with these drivers. Under 49 CFR 177.816, any vehicle carrying hazardous material cannot be transported unless each hazmat employee who will operate a motor vehicle has been trained to the requirements of 49 CFR Parts 383, 387, 390, 399 and the requirements for driving safety.1

These micro-learning clips are designed to help learners understand what are the hazardous material regulations, dot hazmat transportation trainings for employees, what are the nine classes of hazardous materials, other sources of specific related hazmat information, how to correctly pack hazardous materials and how to safely ship hazardous materials. Transporting hazardous materials typically goes smoothly, but in the event of an incident, you need to be prepared to protect yourself and others.
